It would appear that I have a predisoposition to some artistic ability as well as a creative aptitude.
Several members of my family enjoyed drawing as a pastime. While I have been drawing most of my life, I only began seriously painting in the fall of 2007. I am primarily self taught, but have recently attended workshops and classes with Thomas Trausch and Tom Heflin, both prominent, Mid-Western artists. Both have provided valuable instruction, critique, and patience in my quest to become a better artist. I feel very fortunate to have had access to their years of artistic expertise, mastery of subject, and particularly, their generous ability to convey it.
Some of the artists that inspire me as an artist are: James Reynolds, John Singer Sargent, Andrew Wyeth, Maynard Dixon, Norman Rockwell, R.S. Riddick, Howard Terpning, Tom Heflin, and Thomas Trausch.
I am a member of the Rockford Art Guild, Rockford Illinois and The Northland Area Art League,
Woodstock Illinois, and the College of Lake County Members Foundation, Grayslake, Illinois.
I grew up in the North-West suburbs of Chicago. I received my BFA from the Southern Illinois University School of Design, and my Masters in Education from the National College of Education.
I am a retired High School teacher. I have also worked as a designer, and contractor of custom homes.
As you will see on this web-site, I enjoy painting a variety of subjects. I work primarily in acrylic.
Some of my passionate pursuits, beside painting, are breeding and showing Egyptian Arabian Horses, Silver and Turquoise jewelry making, leather carving, sculpture, and furniture making.
My wife and I reside in rural, Northern Illinois with our 13 horses, 3 dogs and 6 cats.
I would encourage you to contact me with any questions you may have regarding my art, horses, or upcoming events.
Thank you for visiting my web-site and considering my art.
I met Tim three years ago at my annual exhibit when he purchased a painting.
He told me he was interested in becoming an artist and had just begun experimenting with acrylic.
What impressed me about Tim was his thirst for knowledge and his natural talent.
It has been a joy to watch him mature into an artist that you will be hearing more and more about.
Tim has already won several best of show awards in competition and will surely be adding more awards in the furture.
If you are a collector of fine art and would like to put your money on a winner, I would hightly recommend that you invest in one of Tim Hagerty's paintings.
Tim Hagerty's work exudes focused realism with great attention to texture and detail. These powerful , striking images call for a longer, closer look . . . . . something to be savored.
With a portfolio of portraits, still-lifes, fauna and fantasy, all subjects are fair game for his brush.
Tim paints images that linger in your mind's eye, and always leave a lasting impression.
A great addition to any collection.
